hostsperm.1 to Google Chrome? - This LiveJournal appears kinda Dead...?

Oct. 19th, 2011 01:24 pm hostsperm.1 to Google Chrome?

I don't know how many "devs" we got here....but something I've been looking into is something similar to the hostperm.txt file with Firefox, to block images, javascript, plugins, etc. at the domain level....well, perusing my Google Chrome directories today, I found where it's all hidden at....it's a File calling "Preferences" (that's right, no .extension) in %APPDATA%\Local\Google\Chrome directory. My settings started at 687 but they could easily be a different line than mine since it's entirely based on how many plugsins/settings/etc you use....

In your favorite text editor, just do a CTRL+F and search for "content_settings": { - should be the easiest way to find them....THEN AGAIN.....if you have NEVER added any exceptions to Google Chrome, this section MAY NOT even exist....

Anyways, here's mine:

Now, if one were to follow the pattern, I couldn't see it being too hard, to take, say the "hostsperm.1" format that Mozilla uses.....

Sure, it's a little bit more complicated, since it's not as simple as a "Find and Replace" Routine with all the carriage/hard-returns and all....

but any possibility of getting this list converted to the Google Chrome-compatible list?

BTW, if it's not "obvious" enough, the "2's" are essentially "block" and the "1's" signify "allow" :)

Do not know the significance of the [*.] that some of the entries contain, all I know is that those were "generated" by Google Chrome itself upon my "answering" one of it's questions at one time or another, so I left them formatted "as-is" -

Actually, I know exactly how those were generated. If I go to a page in Chrome, and a plugin wants to run but can't, Chrome pops up a notification to "Allow" Deny or "Always Allow" - I would have clicked "Always Allow" since the site(s) are trusted (In my opinion...) and so that is how Chrome added them to the list, with that wildcard...[*.]
